Mission

A county free of unaddressed substance use concerns.

Vision

To provide a coordinated approach of all available community resources, public and private, to address and reduce substance use concerns through the promotion of prevention, treatment, and recovery.

Workgroup Goals

  • Data Collection: Increase accuracy, relevant, and current local data to increase community awareness and support informed decision-making to decrease the negative impact of substance use in St. Clair County.

  • Community Education: create a public awareness and education marketing campaign to promote awareness of substance use concerns, focusing on prevention, treatment, and recovery.

  • Resource and Support: Identify, assess, and promote current resources and support for people who have concerns about substance use and recovery.

2025 Collaborative Accomplishment

Opioid Settlement Committee Representation:

  • The St. Clair County Opioid Settlement Committee has representation from two workgroup members. The goal is to share needs identified by the task force from a human services perspective, support, and provide ideas for the use of settlement dollars to best serve people in treatment, recovery, and for the prevention of substance use.

Strategic Alignment with CHIP:

  • The CHIP strategies align with the workgroup’s goals, allowing for significant crossover to provide continued support and collaboration while avoiding duplication.

Annual Recovery Summit:

  • The Recovery Summit, the annual month-long virtual education series, wrapped up in September. Many workgroup members presented on various topics, and continuing education credits were provided for many of the sessions.
