Purpose

To enhance public safety by reducing offender recidivism.

  • Statewide strategy focused on creating safer neighbor-hoods through coordinated prisoner re-entry services, delivered in partnership with state and local agencies to support successful community reintegration.
  • In FY 24, 138 returning St. Clair County citizens received support (FY 23: 77). Of those:
    • 76 received transitional housing services (FY23: 42).
    • 74 received transportation assistance (FY 23: 28).
    • 15 received behavioral health support (FY 23: 7).
    • 20 obtained assistance with ID services (FY 23: 12).
    • 9 received food assistance (FY 23: 9).
    • 47 received clothing assistance (FY 23: 32).
    • 12 accessed employment services, including job-related tools (FY 23: 10).
  • Across seven (7) counties:
    • Job placement rates reached 51.6% (FY 23: 48%).
    • Job retention- 12+ months at the same position also hit 51.6% (FY 23: 44%).
  • The regional return-to-prison rated dropped by 3.9%.
    • Now at 14.4% compared to FY 23 at 18.3%
